What is Kava
Kava is a ceremonial tea consumed in the South pacific Islands that has been scientifically proven to have anti-depressant, anti-anxiety, and muscle relaxing properties. Kava has been known to improve sociability by relieving social anxieties and improving mental clarity. It is a sacred tea that when taken over time brings a feeling of happiness and well being. It promotes mental clarity and has a mild pain relieving property as well, equivalent to taking an aspirin, that gently soothes any aches in the body.
Traditionally everyone is served at the same time, and then Bula is chanted as a toast, which means to your health. In Hawaii they say Ke Aloha Malama Pono which means “with Love live Righteously”. It is used by some cultures as a means to connect with Source and with each other, promoting harmony and community. Some cultures drink kava and then sit in silent meditation. In Hawaii Chiefs use to be able to communicate telepathically with each other using kava. Energetically it opens the heart and the third eye.
Our Kava is organically grown and comes from Wakaya Island a beautiful Island in the Fijian Islands. We offer a moderately strong kava which should give you muscle relaxing effects and calm anxiety after 2 or 3 shells depending on your sensitivity. One other thing to be aware of is that kava has a reverse tolerance, which means you need to drink more the first few times you drink it to feel an effect. After that you actually need less to feel the same effect. If you are looking to feel the more euphoric effects of kava you will need to consume 3 to 5 shells especially if you are new to kava. Another interesting fact about kava is that it works on the same receptor in the brain as alcohol that reduces inhibitions, but with kava the mind remains lucid and clear so your decisions and actions reflect what you want so there are no regrets the next day. Since kava is an antidepressant you feel happy and optimistic the next day. Also in some cases that feeling of happiness in some people can last a few days.
Kava has a synergistic effect with alcohol. Since kava is a potent muscle relaxer the two should not be combined or you may end up with an upset stomach and going over your limit without realizing it. Please consult your physician before use if you are taking any prescription drugs.
